Events have a way to gather people and create lasting memories

Ramen Sessions

If you can find it on Spotify, why bother coming out?

Ramen Sessions is UMD's pilot event, and a rejection of everything predictable about nightlife. Every Thursday, we transform Nomu Bar, a small Japanese bar in Chippendale, into a listening room for people who still believe in discovery.

THE CONCEPT

This is a listening bar. Not a club. Not a party. A space where the music is the point, where you sit, you eat, you drink, and you listen. Our curators don't play sets designed for Instagram clips or Shazam grabs. They dig deeper. They play records you've never heard. They take you somewhere new. We're open to all genres because good music doesn't live in a single lane. One week it's deep house, the next it's Brazilian funk, then Japanese ambient. Most likely: you probably can't find it on a playlist.

WHY IT MATTERS

We started Ramen Sessions because we were tired of hearing the same 50 tracks everywhere we went. Tired of algorithms deciding what we should like. Tired of venues that treat music as background noise. This is music as foreground. Music that rewards attention. Music that introduces you to artists who deserve to be heard.
